Business Process Review

This review process uses a series of facilitated sessions to assess the business environment, discuss the vision of the future environment and determine critical success factors.

Code Review

A senior developer/architect from Micro Endeavors will thoroughly review the code for the applications in question to determine the feasibility of continued use for the purposes determined in the business process discovery.

Recommendations will be made to either:

  • Maintain the code in its current form
  • Upgrade the code to a more recent version of the application used.
  • Revise the architecture of the application to include more appropriate front end and/or back end technologies while maintaining as much original code as possible
  • Recommend a complete re-architecture and rewrite of the system (e.g., move to .NET)
  • Look to COTS (Commercial, off-the-shelf) for a better alternative

Infrastructure Analysis

Next is a comprehensive review of the infrastructure to determine its capacity for supporting applications in the future state. Particular consideration will be given to security issues with web and remote access to applications by employees, partners and customers.

Skills Assessment / Project Team

Assess the skill sets of the current IT staff in light of new technologies, recommend curriculum to bring their skills current and incorporate staff into project where appropriate. This Just-In-Time training and mentoring assures that client resources are integral to the creation of the future state and take ownership once completed.

Deliverables

Micro Endeavors will deliver a detailed analysis of prioritized, compelling business issues affecting the targeted application(s).

  • A detailed summary of the code review will be submitted. This will outline the present state of the current code as well as a recommendation and justifications for “buy vs. build”.
  • An analysis of the infrastructure will be included with recommendations for any incremental upgrades or technical redesign.
  • An assessment of the current skill sets of the IT staff will include recommendations for mentoring and/or training to bring those skill sets to a proper level to maintain any new technologies.

A project plan, time line, and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimate will be submitted. A complete Go-No Go decision making tool.

Micro Endeavors has been working in the .NET world since its earliest beta version; starting with internal projects and expanding to groundbreaking client projects. We have established best practices in .NET development that benefit you in the form of stable, robust and efficient applications. Micro Endeavors was chosen by Microsoft as one of only six firms in the U.S.A. to deliver the .NET Developer Road shows. Micro Endeavors has now delivered public and private .NET training to over 1,500 developers in the Philadelphia region and beyond. As stated by Microsoft, Micro Endeavors has built more enterprise level .NET applications in the area than any other firm they are aware of. We have been instrumental in starting major corporations down the path of .NET development by building their first application for them and then training them on how it's done.

It is  just as important for your technology partner to know the "Source Technology", as it is to know the "Target Technology" for any migration. Micro Endeavors  has been a leader in the development of Visual Basic, FoxPro and Access applications for decades. Micro Endeavors was also significantly involved in  creating Microsoft courseware for these technologies and training thousands of developers in best practices.
